What Are Open Graph Tags?
Open Graph (OG) tags are meta tags placed in the <head> section of your HTML that control how your web pages appear when shared on social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. Without OG tags, social networks make a best guess at your page's title, description, and image β often with poor results. Properly configured OG tags ensure your content looks professional and compelling when shared.
Twitter Card Tags
Twitter uses its own set of meta tags called Twitter Cards, which work similarly to OG tags but are specifically for Twitter (now X). Our generator creates both OG and Twitter Card tags simultaneously, giving you maximum compatibility across all social platforms with a single set of tags.
Best Image Sizes for Social Sharing
For best results on Facebook and LinkedIn, use images with a 1.91:1 aspect ratio and a minimum size of 1200Γ630 pixels. Twitter requires a minimum of 800Γ418 pixels for large summary cards. Always use images under 8MB and in JPEG or PNG format. Well-chosen images can dramatically increase click-through rates when your content is shared.
How to Implement OG Tags
Copy the generated code and paste it inside the <head> section of your HTML page, before the closing </head> tag. After implementation, use Facebook's Sharing Debugger tool to test your tags and force Facebook to re-scrape your page if you've made recent changes. Use Twitter's Card Validator to verify your Twitter Card tags are working correctly.
